On Saturday, April 30th the 2016 Fame Aspire Awards were awarded during the Fame National Championships in Chicago.  After being nominated by show choir professionals from across the country, Great River Show Choir Invitational was awarded “Best Regional Competition” in the nation for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW!  Great River is hosted by the West and Central choral departments each year at the Adler/River Center and attracts top show choirs from across the Midwest.  This invitational is unique because it is a collaboration of two high school choral programs coming together to put on a competition at a venue that is not a high school campus.  Congratulations to all of the parents, students, volunteers, sponsors, and directors from Central AND West that have made Great River into the success it is!

Show Choir Guidelines
REMEMBER TO DRESS-UP DURING ALL CONTESTS.  THIS MEANS NO JEANS/PAJAMAS AT ANY TIME DURING THE DAY!!!  Men should wear dress pants, dress shirts, and ties if possible.  Women's skirts should be appropriate length and chest/shoulders should be covered.  School d ress code applies for show choir events!
These performance-based trips are an extension of our vocal music class.  Therefore, all Davenport Community School District policies, rules, and/or regulations are in effect during all trips.  The purchase of, possession of, and/or the consumption of any alcoholic beverages, tobacco/smokeless tobacco products, and non-prescription drugs/stimulants, or clone substances are prohibited.
You will be responsible for the consequences of any Federal, State, and/or local law, and/or ordinances that you may violate.
You are not to be the driver of any vehicle nor are you to be a passenger in any vehicle (without the proper forms signed) other than transportation secured by the travel company or by the directors.
No student is to leave the group or the premises of the event, without the permission of your chaperones or directors.
If/When a curfew is set, each student is to be in his/her assigned room at the designated time.
There will not be any boys in a girl's room or any girls in a boy's room at any time during overnight trips.
On overnight trips, there will be a meeting each evening to discuss the agenda for the next day.  Attendance is mandatory.
Always be early!  Tardiness could result in the loss of some privileges and/or the assignment of extra duties.  Students who do not arrive on time will be left behind and responsible for their own transportation to an event if they still wish to participate.
You are to obey the instructions of your chaperones, parents, and directors alike.
Each individual is responsible for his/her own luggage and other personal belongings.  Always pack lightly and bring as few valuable items as possible.
A serious infringement of these guidelines may result in the student being sent directly home with a chaperone.  After a conference with the parents/guardians, the directors and the school administrator will make a final decision concerning this matter.  The expense of this procedure (plus the cost of the chaperone) would be borne by the parents/guardians.
